I love that look! My kids love to nibble on my toes and I get them back by nibbling on theirs.
Sorry totally weird question, but can Parker even taste because of the trach? I wanted to ask on his food therapy post but never got around to it. Obviously shoes dont taste good but I was just curious if that was more of a texture thing he wasnt liking?
Told you it was weird! ha ha
Cute! Maybe Parker needs shoes of the edible kind. LOL. I am hoping to have something for the contest, but I can’t guarantee that my model will be willing to cooperate! Lately, she isn’t liking her picture being taken. I only post a very small portion of the pictures I actually take because of her refusal to cooperate.
Becky,
Good Question!
Trached kids don’t have a sense of smell….hence not much of a sense of taste.
During Parker’s feeding therapies he wears a special trach covering called a ’speaking valve’ which pushes his oxygen up through his voice box, etc. allowing him to have a better sense to smell and taste. He can only wear it for very short amounts of time each week though.
I think chewing on his shoe just grossed him out.
But it was so fun to get such a great cause and effect reaction.
I’m happy to answer any questions you have! Really!
What a CUTE expression!
Not only is he adorable but he has some talet. What a silly boy! I have always loved nibbling on kai’s toes.
Isn’t that great?Just for that it seems like we’ve won something priceless. Keep it up Parker. God loves you.
That is so precious! It’s hard to learn life’s lessons sometimes! I’ll bet my shoe tastes like that, too!
What a cute photo, the expression on his face is great!
These photos are awesome Tammy! Thanks for the smile!
Its really funny the things children like to do. My son still bites his fingernails and swallows them. I know its gross.
Your son is so cute and awesomely strong.
Your journey is an inspiration. May God continue to strengthen and keep our family strong.
Great photos! I know some kids that actually like the way their shoes taste/feel….at least that’s ONE thing you don’t need to concern yourself with.
Quite clear Parker is not digging eating his shoes.
I love that photo! So cute. A picture is worth a thousand words isn’t it?
Happy WW!
~Have a blessed day.

LOL I love that expression on his face!
My Little Bitty likes to lick things (sensory issues) which have included shoes, sidewalks, cars, even asphalt (yuck!). He usually just touches them with his tongue, I think he’s checking the texture more than actually trying to taste… and it usually doesn’t phase him but some of his explorations leave ME with the expression on Parker’s face! (for the record, he can drop to the ground in a millisecond so yes I do try to stop him from licking sidewalks but I’m not always fast enough!)
That second photo is priceless. So cute!
Tammy! I had no idea that you are the managing editor over at 5 Minutes for Special Needs. I just read the happy, happy computer news at 5 Minutes for Mom. Praise God.
Love the photos!
Great pics! He looks adorable.
Well, I guess it’s a positive step that he’s voluntarily putting things in his mouth.
Great Shots!
So cute!!!!
what a great face! I love the “bleh!” look. Cutie
Yep, shoes are pretty nasty, huh?!
Oh how funny! I love his little tounge sticking out. Myah too has found out she doesn’t love the taste of shoes! Very cute!
Oh Parker! You are too funny and way, way cute.
Great capture, mom.
Just had to return to say congratulations on that new laptop! How wonderful that they were able to do that for you and even better that it was received without ever having to ask for it! Congratulations!
Yummy shoes! Good photo!
Thanks for the answer! Those pictures are just so cute even if he cant taste it
I love stalking your blog!
lol
I just found you through 5minutesformom. I will add Parker to my prayers. This pic is so funny of him licking his shoes. Boys will be boys! Congrats on the new laptop! Looking forward to reading your blog.
Not so good! What a sweetheart! ;o)
Love his reaction!
Congrats on the big news that was announced at 5 minutes for mom about your laptop. Hopefully it will make your life just a tad bit easier.
That is so funny!!!
That is too cute!!

Funny guy! I bet they didn’t taste good!
Love that picture of Parker making his icky face. LOL!
My Special Exposure Wednesday is up, too.
He is adorable,I don’t imagine shoes taste very good. Thanks for the blog visit and for your sweeet comments.
Congrats on the laptop!
And Parker’s expression is TOO cute!
Parker is not liking that taste at all.
Awww! What a sweet face he has! I don’t like the taste of shoes either, buddy!
That’s adorable! I guess it’s one of those things you just have to try out just once for yourself.
So cute! Be glad that he didn’t like the taste! My daughter (20 months) still loves to take off her shoes and chew on them. It drives me CRAZY, especially when I’m distracted and don’t notice and some stranger in the grocery store says, “Is she supposed to have those in her mouth?” Uh, no.
I am so glad Becky asked that question! I hadnt thought of that!
Parky is the cutest little guy EVER! I want him to win everything, lol! He is a cover model for sure! I mean look at that face! MUCH cuter than that old Gerber baby!!!!
Love and hugs,
Amy
I love his reaction. My daughter loves eating her shoes I wish she would her would taste that way.
He is so dang funny! I love his expressions.
You never know until you try! Too, too cute – I love that face :0)
Cute photos!!! Love the expression on his face in the “after” shot.
Great, GREAT photos! He’s such a model poser! And BTW, I didn’t know about the “no sense of smell/taste” thing with a trach. Thanks for sharing!
Oh my gosh, that’s so funny!! Everything’s a learning experience, right? Cookies = good, shoes = bad. BTW, CONGRATS on your upcoming laptop, that’s amazing and HP = AWESOME!
Cute pictures! My kids used to chew on shoes too… except, they seemed to like the taste!
LOL Parker is too cute! I love the face he made. !!
My son had a similar reaction to chewing on a stuffed bunny and I caught it on camera. It was awesome!
Here’s an award for you!
