It’s still a little rocky here.  Some days the worry just seems to sneak up on a Mama. Then, try though I may, I just can’t shake the shadow that falls over my heart when I think of the future and Parker’s health.
I am working on paying more attention to the little bits of joy that have been trying to catch my attention.
Simple things like snuggling with Parker and spending time together.
Parker adores flannel board stories. I love that with felt board stories Parker can take an active part in the unfolding of each tale.
Helping a non-verbal kid get involved in activities using language is important. It’s how I know if he is understanding what we are engaging in. Parker is beginning to babble more and more and we do believe that one day he will be able to use words to express his feelings.
Parker is a very texture loving kid. He loves the feel of both the felt board and the felt board pieces. The brightly colored pieces also help capture and hold his attention.
My friend Wendy, from Learning Resources, sent Parker this great Double-Sided Tabletop Easel. It’s the perfect size and it’s ability to multi-task makes it so nice to have.
You can’t tell in the pictures, but this Tabletop Easel has a felt side AND a magnetic white board side. It’s super sturdy. And while we are doing this activity on the floor, this easel is perfect for learning centers. Good thinking, Learning Resources!
I will absolutely be taking this up to Primary’s with us to give Parker something to focus on while he’s healing from his next surgery.   I’ve got to do something to make it up to Parker for putting him through another surgery that will land him in the hospital for a week.
Again.
ps: Love the felt board story Parker is playing with in this post?  You can find them at Glitterful Preschool Fun!
