Tales from the Yard Sales

by Tammy & Parker on August 31, 2009

Yard sale season is winding down in our little corner of the world. Rigel and I have put in quite a bit of time digging through other people’s junk……uh, stuff, looking for treasures.

I thought I’d share a few:

001

I had a spot in my dinning room that needed a miracle little updating. The trays are the very inexpensive silver ones that you can find at party stores. I’ve had these for years just waiting for the right idea to come along.

004

The idea came in the form of two cans of spray paint. Super easy. Super cheap. I LOVE the colors.

The rooster plaque was a $5.00 yard sale find. It comes with different ‘tops’ that can be changed out depending on the season.

The whole project cost way less than $10.00!

Next up is this wall art:

002

I found this at a yard sale. It still had the original tag on it showing that it originally cost (gulp) $50.00. The yard sale price was $10.00. But it was the end of the day and it still hadn’t sold, so I offered $8.00 and this little beauty was MINE!

A can of spray paint and she’s perfect!

003

Trying to decorate around oxygen concentrators, and blending my family room and dining room with Parker’s homeschool preschool can be a tad bit challenging to say the least.

But I’m lovin’ how it’s all coming together!

And the beauty of a little upscale resale is that you can create gorgeous…….. on the cheap!

What great ideas! I’m going to borrow the platter idea and put some vinyl lettering inside for my bathroom. I love your decorating ideas, how beautiful.

I think DYI is always best; don’t you truely feel a sense of accomplishment? I can work on a project at the office for a month and it will continue to be revised and hammered, but a home project can be completed and it is YOURS! I only pay someone to do ’structural’ things (which could cause damage to the home ie: a retaining wall, or plumbing!) You are verrry gifted!
