Summer… far.

Summer time at the Hodson House has been full of doctor appointments.  It’s much better to take Parker up to Primary’s in the summer rather than RSV season.  Lately it seems as though there is always some kind of scary going around up there.

Thursday was a FEES study for our Brave Hero.  And guess what?  He not only passed off pudding thickened foods……but also HONEY thickened foods.  Can we get a woot?

That means things are still healing from the last surgery where they tented Parker’s epiglottis.

We also saw a new GI last week.  We are working on seeing if we can lower the amount of reflux meds Parker is on.  The way we figure this out is by taking aspirations from Parker’s g-tube various times during the day.  Nothing like walking into your hospital’s lab with a brown bag full of your kid’s stomach contents.

And we have a date for the next right heart cath.  July 26th.  Any and all prayers would be sincerely appreciated.

Guess who is finally back up to 36 pounds? Do those cheeks not look almost chubby?

Our backdoor neighbors decided to totally rip out the little forest that separated our backyards…and re-do their lawn.

Every day there are workers out back and dirt flying everywhere. Not such a great place for a kid with asthma to hang out.

It will be gorgeous when they are done. But it’s been pretty miserable during. Parker’s playset is just behind this load of dirt.

Lots of time has been spent inventing new ways to go down the slide. Inside. Where the air conditioner and air purifier live.

The garden is in full swing. I love spending time here. A garden is a place from which you can feed your family, but also a place where you can heal your spirit.

A bumper crop of beets!

Zucchini is about to explode!

Green beans will be on by the end of the month! Time to break out the canner!

I’ll be in the pickle business soon too!

The last of the lettuce.

Where the herbs live.

As soon as the upcoming heart cath is over, we plan on doing some actual fun things with Parker. Can I say that I can’t wait until the 26th comes…….and goes?

So what have you been up to this summer? I’d love to know! It’ll keep my mind off this damn right heart cath.

  1. When I looked at the pictures of the yard work on your neighbors property I thought how sad to tear down trees just to do more landscaping. I hate when I lose just one tree on our property. The silly me thought of the old Joni Mitchell Song “Big Yellow Taxi.”
    “They took all the trees
And put them in a tree museum
    Then they charged the people
A dollar and a half just to see ‘em
Don’t it always seem to go,
That you don’t know what you’ve got
    ‘Til it’s gone
    They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot.”

  2. I envy you the garden. Catastrophic drought here. Ugh. the rest of it, um, not so envious. But supportive and praying and positive!!! Any woman who can so calmly carry around stomache contents in such a graceful fashion is my idol. You rock!
