Melissa and Doug Giveaway!

by Tammy & Parker on February 5, 2010

This Giveaway is now closed!  Winner to be announced on Friday!  (woot!)

Parker is just entering into the world of pretend play. He loves to wear his hero cape, drive his little wooden cars, and cook in his kitchen.

Yup. He cooks in his very own kitchen. We start ‘em out young at our house.

So when Melissa and Doug asked if I’d be willing to review their Grocery Store/Lemonade Stand, I knew this would fit perfectly into our new world of pretend play.

Our Melissa and Doug Grocery Store/Lemonade Stand came unassembled.

001

So I needed to recruit my slave labor.

heh.

The 14 year old had this assembled in a flash.

And, just like his Dad, he refused to even look at the directions.

sigh.

013

I’m impressed with how sturdy Melissa and Doug’s Grocery Store/Lemonade Stand is. This is a toy that can be handed down to the next in line!

It would be an excellent choice for a preschool or kindergarten classroom.

Not to mention how cute Parker looks standing behind it.

ahem.

The removable chalkboard signs are perfect for handwriting practice and also provide a fun way to provide matching opportunities with an object and and it’s written name.

022

The Grocery Store/Lemonade Stand would work with a wide variety of ages, and Parker’s big sister is always ready to step behind the counter and play with our Brave Hero!

The Grocery Store/Lemonade Stand has already received hours of play. We can’t wait for springtime to take it outside, reverse the banner so it reads ‘lemonade’ and make a bundle selling the ice cold drink to the neighbors!

Because the Grocery Store/ Lemonade Stand doesn’t come with fruits and vegetables, you’ll want to go here and look at the great selection Melissa and Doug offer!

Educational, well built, and versatile, Melissa and Doug have whipped up yet another recipe for fun with this beauty!

melissadoug2

We have one Melissa & Doug Grocery Store/Lemonade Stand, retail value $129.99, to give away to one lucky reader.

Win It:

We are offering one lucky reader the beautiful Melissa & Doug Play Kitchen!

Just head on over to Melissa an Doug’s site and come back and tell us (with a comment) one other product your little one would love to have.

Am I first to comment? Wow. First of all, I’m THRILLED beyond measure that Parker gets his own lemonaid and fruit stand. That is the cutest thing ever! I would LOVE one of those, too. And at Melissa and Doug’s, I think the slice and bake cookie set is just DARLING.

Emily February 5, 2010 at 12:58 pm

My boys would love any of their toys, and seeing their darling cute things makes me wish for a girl! :)
But we love their ‘cutable food’
Thanks for a great blog. Love to read it.

Kristin February 5, 2010 at 1:15 pm

How fun! We’d definitely choose the food groups toys. My son is such a picky eater…maybe playing with food would make it more appealing!

What’s for dinner tonight at your house? I think we might be having leftover night.

kadiera February 5, 2010 at 2:17 pm

We love Melissa & Doug (and can I mention that Parker is just so darn cute standing there at his grocery store?)

While we’d love to have just about anything, right now we’re working on fine motor skills – puzzles are a big hit lately. I’m also thinking the wooden magnetic letters and numbers would be good – a bit beyond Alex right now, but he could start getting familiar with the shapes, you know?

How about a joke?

I was out walking with my 4 year old daughter. She picked up something off the ground and started to put it in her mouth. I took the item away from her and I asked her not to do that.

“Why?” my daughter asked.

“Because it’s been on the ground, you don’t know where it’s been, it’s dirty, and probably has germs” I replied.

At this point, my daughter looked at me with total admiration and asked, “Mommy, how do you know all this stuff, you are so smart.”

I was thinking quickly. “All moms know this stuff. It’s on the Mommy Test. You have to know it, or they don’t let you be a Mommy.” We walked along in silence for 2 or 3 minutes, but she was evidently pondering this new information.

“OH…I get it!” she beamed, “So if you don’t pass the test you have to be the daddy.”

“Exactly” I replied back with a big smile on my face.

And here’s a little tidbit to get you excited about spring and summer–

Garden Rule: When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.

Forget the kids! I wanna play :) I love all the cut-able food. My kids want to help me so badly in that stage of dinner preparation they can with those!

Melissa & Doug is one of my favorite toy source. The wood and other materials they use actually hold up to my three boys. That on it’s own is a miracle.

Greta Lords February 5, 2010 at 4:32 pm

I love Melissa and Doug toys and have a few at home. I wouldn’t know how to select just one. My son would love any of them… to name a few the pound and roll tower, the standing easel, the dinosaur magnets, or the latch boards.

mm February 5, 2010 at 4:53 pm

I think your son has the sweetest smile ever. I can’t enter the contest as I am north of the border, and I am ok with that, my kids are older than your son. But I have to admit, I missed you telling us what you ate for breakfast in the rules section… it does give me a chuckle.

Janis February 5, 2010 at 5:53 pm

We have so many of their toys, but i have my eyes on the cutting foods!!!

I know I can’t win it since I’m not in the US, but I just wanted to say how stinkin’ cute Parker looks – and how much we love Melissa and Doug. They make some of my favorite toys!

Wendy February 6, 2010 at 6:04 pm

We love their products, especially the giant floor puzzles. They are fun, easy and very durable. Stress on the DURABLE part! They are also educational. The dinosaur puzzle has dino info, the ABC puzzle train has pics with each letter, the solar system tells all about the planets. You get the idea.

Love, love, love the Brave Hero at his stand. With that face you had better stock up on lemonade because he is going to sell a ton of it!!!!

Bunny Rose Cottage February 6, 2010 at 6:45 pm

OH MY GOSH!!! I CANNOT even stand this!! PARKY!!!! You are such a doll, I love you!! I would buy lemonade from you anytime!! He is so cute Tammy, I love this! I also love Melissa and Doug brand products and buy them often. This lemonade stand is darling!
Parky, will you be my Valentine???
Love to all,
Amy

Tammy- Nana got the Melissa and Doug replica shopping cart for her birthday and is really a hit- so she for sure needs to come play with Parky and do a little shopping. :)

Tammy & Parker February 11, 2010 at 11:23 am

Chris,

*I* need me some major Nana time! Bring her out, pretty please.

Stimey February 11, 2010 at 12:29 pm

I didn’t know that Melissa & Doug made stuffed animals. We have and have had a ton of their stuff, but my kids would love one of their person-size lovies.
