It

by Tammy & Parker on July 24, 2007

And it was hard. Really, really hard.

What We Know.

1. Parker’s PH levels have gone up. Way up. We went back over his records and at one time his PH levels were as high as the 130’s. Yesterday they were estimated at 81.

Dangerously high.

2. Parker’s ASD, a hole in his heart that had been working as a release valve when his pressures got too high, has closed over.

3. The cardiologist doesn’t believe that the problem is the meds no longer working. He believes that they would have quit working months ago if that were the issue. And he doesn’t believe that Parker’s levels would have been at near normal for so long if the medication was no longer working. I trust Dr. Day. Totally.

4. Parker’s upper airway is a mess.

5. Parker is exceptionally congested.

6. The last week on his CPAP has been a struggle SAT wise, with his O2 hanging around 90-92 and his heart rate anywhere from the high 120’s to the high 130’s.

7. Parker is showing signs of coming down with the creeping something. He has developed a fever, cough and quite the sneeze.

8. Parker will be in the hospital within the next couple of days. He needs a blood transfusion (or several) and he needs a new PH probe performed. We may even be taking him up to the PICU if this crud decides to get anymore aggressive.

What We Don’t Know:

1. Why Parker’s crit is down to 20.

2. Why Parker’s BNP is at 122, yet his PH numbers are so dangerously high. 122 is down from 1600 just three weeks ago.

3. Whether a trach is a good idea for Parker and will help at all. <---THAT is a biggie.

4. If Parker's reflux could be worse. Reflux can and does cause PH AND sinus issues.

His cardiologist believes that based on Parker's prior history we CAN turn this around. We just need to figure out WHAT and HOW.

I also want to take a moment and share with you a bit of a miracle within all of this disappointment. Melody at Slurping Life put together a little Love-a-Thon for Parker.

Oh. Wait. Did I say little? Ahem. Then let me amend that to say that the prizes people have donated in Parker’s behalf are AMAZING.

But back to my post.

This little Love-A-Thon is blessing Parker’s socks off. I keep thinking that if all these people have enough faith in Parker to participate in showing their love for Parker, then they must believe that Parker can get well and one day be healthy. I find myself leaning on that love and support and faith quite a bit.

What We Are Asking:

Prayers are a powerful gift, my friends. Powerful. I have and will always believe that it will be through prayer that Parker’s health will improve. I truly believe that. In my prayers I am asking to know all that I should be both asking and praying for. Heavenly Father knows exactly what the missing piece of Parker’s puzzle is. I need to know what to ask for in my prayers.

So, would you guys Pray for Parker too please?

As I’m sure you have noticed, there are many, many bloggers offering free giveaways on their blogs this week. Even more bloggers are visiting these sites for a chance to win those free gifts. Bloggityville is one busy place!

May I ask a HUGE favor?

Would you take a minute to post about Parker and the Love-a-Thon for Parker somewhere near your giveaway post? Tell everyone about the prizes, but especially ask them for prayers. Ask them to Pray for Parker. You may even want to use the specifics listed above. Then would you use the Love For Parker button to link back to Slurping Life?

Finally, would you ask your friends to do the same and then ask them to ask their friends and their friends… Parker needs the prayers. Cause it’s crunch time.

And we are just a little scared. Okay. Maybe more than just a little.

I am so sorry to hear that Parker’s numbers weren’t good. I can’t imagine how scared you must be. I am hoping that you find some peace and strength to make it through the next week or so. I wish I had something to say to make it better. We’re all keeping Parker in our prayers.

Praying.

Yes, everyone reading please pray and spread the word about Parker so that others will pray. Post about Tammy’s request for prayer above all. And please consider posting and linking to Love for Parker as Tammy has asked.

Typepad is currently down and I am unable to update Slurping Life and people are unable to access Love for Parker to donate. Yeah, I know, what a time to happen.

Please spread any word you can.

Thank you.

I’ve posted twice now, Tammy, and the second post is right in the middle of my giveaways. The problem of course is that you have to link to a specific post at Shannon’s place so when newcomers visit my site, they’re only seeing the giveaway post. But I have Parker’s button in my sidebar and it links back to Melody.

And of course I’m praying – I always have been and I always will. I can’t imagine your frustration right now. You’re in my prayers, too.

Keeping those prayers going. I didn’t want to put the specifics on my blog without your approval, so I just linked ot Melody’s.

Hugs, prayers & positive thoughts my friend.

My prayers go out to Parker! My name is Emily, my daughter Macy was born 6 weeks ago and diagnosed with T21 the day after her birth. She also has a large VSD and moderate ASD to be repaired in a few months. We also live in Utah (Layton) and will have surgery at PCMC. I hope for the best for Parker and your family!

Thank you for visiting my site and getting me over here! I hope things go well in the next little while. My sister-in-law had a hard/lung transplant when she was 18 but she lived her entire life up until then on pins and needles. She was born with a hole in her heart and they didn’t catch it until it had damaged her lungs and she was 6! I love that medicine has progressed so much to help these sweet spirits! I’ll be keeping your family in my prayers!

I’ve been lurking for weeks now and let me just peek out to say that YOU and Parker are both in my thoughts and prayers… You are an amazing mommy and Parker is so blessed to have you! I’ve also posted a little linky for Parker on my blog, and even though my blog doesn’t see a lot of action, maybe it’ll help a little!

Praying.
I’ll put the Love For Parker button in my sidebar and write about him again in today’s post.
And I am so sorry for the terrible results today. I truly believe that they WILL improve. Truly.

Tammy, I am so sorry to hear this and will continue to pray for little Parker. I have added a text box above my posts at all three of my Blogger blogs, so no matter if people click directly to my giveaway post, they will still see the info about Parker. With all the traffic, some people are bound to follow those links. At RS Designs, my giveaway post starts out by mentioning and linking to the Parker lovefest. I am praying for a huge fundraiser for Parker.

I am praying for sweet little Parker and for all of you. If you’re at all interested, I know of a priest that has healed many people. He has a “specialty” in healing babies. I’ve heard testimony from people who have been healed by him. I can give you contact information if you’re at all interested…just send me an email.

In the meantime, God bless precious Parker.

Tammy,

I hope I’m not being a bother, but I noticed you said in your comment on my blog that you were going to email me. And I saw on my Sitemeter that you clicked to email, but I never got it.

I’ve been having SO many emails disappear on me on yahoo and I’m so worried that you might have sent the email and it didn’t go through.

If you did send one, could you resend it again? And if you don’t hear back from me within 24-hours, know that I did NOT get it.

If that happens, just leave a comment on my blog with your email and I’ll try to find another way to get us connected. I’d leave my phone number here but I’m afraid to make it public.

Thanks, Tammy and I hope we can get in touch privately!

((((HUGS)))) for you and Parker!
