Homemade Breadsticks: a MUST TRY recipe!

This isn’t my original recipe. I pulled it off the internet a while ago. I wish I could remember from where, because then I would give credit where credit is due!

When Reed was in college, he worked at the original Pizza Factory in Cedar City. As a matter of fact, his roommate was one of the founders of The Pizza Factory.

Nowadays The Pizza Factory serves these amazing bread sticks. People make a meal out of the salad bar and pizza sticks alone!

The recipe is quick and easy. I promise.

1½ cups warm water

2 Tbsp. sugar

1 Tbsp. yeast

Let that sit for 5 minutes. Then add:

3½ cups flour

1 tsp Salt

Mix until smooth then let raise for 10 minutes. This will be a bit of a softer dough.

Roll out dough into a large square on a floured surface.

Brush with melted (real) butter mixed with garlic and then sprinkle with kosher salt.

Fold in half and cut into 1 inch strips.

Twist and place on a cooking sheet. Let sit for 15 to 20 minutes to raise. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes or until golden brown. Immediately after baking, brush with more garlic butter and sprinkle with kosher salt and grated parm cheese.

These are actually a little more brown than they should be. I  like them a bit less browned.  I should have grabbed these out about 3 minutes sooner.

However they were still gobbled up in the blink of an eye.

Maybe even half a blink.

They are that good.

I vaguely remember Uncle Reeds Cedar days. I remember him making me breakfast when he came over to babysit. Especially when he came over when Kristy was born. Wow, those are great childhood memories! Thanks to a great Uncle who was willing to watch a few little girlies! And thanks to a great Auntie who always made us feel important, especially on your wedding day. Happy Anniversary to the both of you and I love you both so very, very much.

  4. Wow – I want to make these right now, and I know my kids will love them.

But one quick question. Is the yeast dried or fresh (or doesn’t it matter)?

  5. These look very easy and good! I can’t wait to try them. Thanks for sharing the recipe.

We are going to try those tonight! One of our nurses told me that one part of the Obamacare was that they got rid of the lifetime max. Is that true? That would help Parker, right? We are right behind you – Bella hit 3 million her first year of life. So I follow your discussion very closely.

  7. I really could live on bread alone, so I will have to try these. They look wonderful!

  8. Steph says:

Sounds YUMMY! Can the yeast for bread machines be used…the stuff in those little glass jars? I’m not up on my yeast. Oh, and, for my personal liking I would have baked them even a bit longer. Thanks for sharing.

  9. I’m making these ASAP!
