And just like that, my prayer was answered.

They say that answers to prayer comes in all different forms and fashions.  Yesterday was a testament to that.  We have yet to discover exactly what Parker can hear.  Can he hear me when I read a book to him?  Can he hear when I sing to him?

Yesterday I sat in while Parker worked with Miss Angie.  I watched as she spent time reviewing numbers with him.  She would place two numbers before him and ask him to give her a specific one.

She did this several times.  Each time with different numbers.  Each time Parker picked up the exact one Miss Angie asked for.

It took a few hours for this to hit me.  Parker could hear Miss Angie ask him for a specific number and then he would pick it up and hand it to her.

I had to stop and catch my breath as the realization hit me.  An answer to prayer.  A bit of peace spoken directly to my heart.

Do we still have a long way to go?  You bet.  Will the journey be much easier knowing that when I speak with Parker in a low, firm voice in a quiet room that he can, indeed hear me. Absolutely.

I can’t imagine a greater gift than the peace I’ve been feeling.  The knowledge that when it comes to Parker’s hearing things are going to be alright.

Every hour on the hour and sometimes in between.

This Parker's daily schedule.  Notice the times of his bolus feeds.  The times of his medications.  How often...
