One major concern for parents of children with disabilities is what will life hold for them after they leave the public school system
It’s the stuff that late night worry is made of.
Lehi City, in Lehi, Utah has begun something beautiful.
A Community College for kids like Parker. A place that recognizes that my son has dreams just like yours does. A place to help make those dreams become reality.
The Lehi Community Center is about a 20 minute drive away from me.
Do you hear that?
It’s the sound of my heart singing with joy.
What a WONDERFUL idea and program!!! Hopefully some day this will become a widespread program and anyone with disabilities who wants to participate can!
Would love to have a program like this here in Logan.
(The beautiful red head in this video, Heather, is one of our most favorite people on earth. She was Scotty’s H.S. teacher for two years but has been a dear family friend for several years since. Gonna have to talk to her about getting this ball rolling here in Logan!)
Wow!!! This is a GREAT program. I’ve seen programs where the college tries to absorb people with special needs into a pseudocollege experience, but from the video, it looks like this is truly a program for people with special needs to further their education, not just try to provide them the “college experience.” How can I get me one of those down here in Texas, I wonder.
